Hi All,

Have just started a restoration job on a '62 mini. Have finished taking all the bits off including the subframe. What is the best way to work on it? I have seen people put mini's on their sides to work on the floors and have also seen someone with it on its roof utilising roof racks. Would working on the side with the mini on a mattress be ok?

Cheers.

old tyres would work better if you layed it on the side, a mattress could catch fire quite easy. The best thing would be a spit

you can make one with simple welding skills or you buy on online ?

A spit is definitely the way to go.
People have successfully made spit supports from old shopping trolleys (!)
Others have used 2x engine stands. Then all you need is a bit of 4" or 5" water pipe and a couple of mounting brackets to the body.
It's a good idea to put casters on it so you can shunt it out of the way when you need the space.
