Thats just bloody stupid and ludacris.

So this makes a rich parent's child want to take their expensive car out more and more, and therefore they will leave the P plates at home and drive around even more illegally.

Jeez they dont think.

And yeah maybe there are lots of crashes in high performance cars... but ya gotta learn somehow.

{edit}; **** yeah! ANOTHER P plater topic! :D

Quote:
Vehicle and passenger conditions for P1 and P2 licence holders
On 11 July 2005 the NSW Government will introduce two changes to the provisional licence scheme. Both of these new initiatives aim to help reduce the young driver road toll.

Prohibited vehicle condition
The prohibited vehicle condition restricts all new provisional (P1 and P2) drivers from driving certain vehicles while on their provisional licence.

Prohibited vehicles are those with:

Eight or more cylinders.
A turbocharged engine (diesel exempt).
A supercharged engine (diesel exempt).
Engine performance modifications.
High performance six cylinder engines.
A list of prohibited vehicles is available to view and download from the box at the bottom of this page.

Please note: the list will be updated as required.

Guidelines for light vehicle modifications (Vehicle standards information sheet VSI 06) are also available to view and download from the box at the bottom of this page.

This condition does not apply to:

Existing provisional (P1 and P2) licence holders, unless they are disqualified for a serious driving offence from 11 July 2005.
Learner licence holders.
Passenger condition
The passenger condition applies to provisional (P1 and P2) drivers disqualified for a serious driving offence. After the disqualification period the provisional (P1 and P2) licence holder will be restricted from carrying more than one passenger when driving. This condition will apply for 12 months.

Exemptions from vehicle restrictions
Exemptions may be granted if:

More powerful vehicles are required for genuine employment purposes (statutory declaration to be provided by an employer).
Eight cylinder 4WD vehicles are required by country drivers who have no practical alternative.
A low performance turbocharged engine vehicle is the principal family vehicle (ie registered to a parent).
If exceptional circumstances can be demonstrated, application for an exemption can be made at any motor registry upon payment of a $23 fee. You cannot drive a prohibited vehicle unless you are exempted and owning a prohibited vehicle does not make you exempt.

If you are unsure if your vehicle is prohibited or you would like more information about P1 and P2 licence conditions phone 13 22 13.

Absolutely ridiculous that list covers a lot of cars owned by Mums and Dads
A P plater cannot drive a Exa turbo high 16s 1/4 but can drve a Ford Territory which is twice the size, easier to roll, no proper rear vision and is quicker than the Exa!

It should be power to weight ratio simple any mods have to be egineered with a power run on the dyno (lower the boost on a turbo car  )

They are wrecking it for future car enthusiast, killing the aftermarket industry and I bet it wont change the road toll
Even a Corrolla can crash at 180km if the person behind the wheel has no proper driver training or a lack of common sense

My best wishes to the Bankstown Boy's.

there wont be cars up for sale because it only applies to new liscencees (i think i made up that word :D ) unless they are stupid enough to loose their liscence...so that is kinda a good deterrent there...but most of them will still loose em.
