Simon,
That is an 1 1/2" SU
HS4

1 3/4" has a square mounting flange with 4 holes.

The "1 3/4 inch" refers to the diameter of the carb inlet.... Find a tape measure??

Actually Ian, no, it refers to the carb outlet size.
AN HS6 has a smaller inlet bore than an HIF44 does, but can be machined out for better flow than stock.

Inlet approx 41mm, outlet approx 44mm

Close enough for Government work..... :) Its the principle that counts (ie measure..)

Interesting.. I always thought carbs necked down... Does that mean 6s don't?? The math tells me that 1 3/4" = 44.5 mm
... and the 44 under the bench measures 47(I) and 44 (O)..??? Which I would have known if I'd checked first ..

Cheers, Ian
