Hi all,

After discovering that the tyre fitter had over tightened my Contessa wheel nuts, and has stripped some, I have ordered a full set (16) from Mini Kingdom.

What is the correct torque setting and can you put anti-seize on the threads, or should they be dry?

Cheers,

Jim :)

I use 40 ft/lb and the threads are very lightly oiled.

How are the studs? Might be worthwhile replacing them as well

The studs are fine I've checked them closely. The nuts wore the brunt of the brute force.

I never use a rattle gun I always tighten by hand then use a torque wrench to tighten up

I got a call the other week to take off a tyre off a Toyota I needed a 4 foot pipe on the wheel brace to get the nuts off and I bent a brace that was 10 mm rod like a banana

Mate wasn't happy as he got new tyres put on 2 days before the flat I haven't seen him to ask if he went to the tyre shop about the very tight nuts
