My 1977 1000cc Mini was assembled in New Zealand. I've scoured the internet in search of a similar stripe or the history of this stripe. Does anyone know which Minis were assembled with it or whether its never been seen before? Cheers

It could have deem something a dealer did to get the car to sell...

I tend to agree, more likely an aftermarket fitted one, probably to make similar to GT. Most sign places could copy it if you wanted.

That's what I suspected. However, the orange colour isn't a registered Classic Mini colour either yet it is original paint. Did people assemble and paint these themselves like a kit car?

Looks like the same colour I had on a Morris 1500. Its not portofino gold is it? It looks browner than 'the lone oranger'.

Not hugely knowledgeable on how to identify a Mini's heritage, could you elaborate please?

sorry, my bad - I missed in your first post where you said it was a NZ assembled '77 model - I don't know anything about NZ mini assembly, not many of the Australians on here would...

what I was (poorly) pointing out was that it wasn't an Australian assembled car, the difference being that a '77 model from Australia would a/ be a clubman shape and b/ still have external door hinges. So whatever colour it is would not be an original Australian colour. Without knowing about NZ production, I thought you'd be best off searching for UK colour charts to identify it

this car shows what Australian doors look like - the external door hinges and 1/4 window in the door identifies it - though ignore the door handles, they're non-standard
