I have come across these petrol caps that are really close to the original Cooper S caps.
They are available from Supercheap Auto - Tridon fuel cap TFNL206V ...........$10.88 and the 2 stores I have been to only seem to stock 2off.

Check carefully as one of the first ones I bought had a slight dent.

They are not this shiny when you buy them however with a bit of work on the buff and presto!!!!
PS. The one that I am holding is the original.

These look good, but are vented. Aren't the originals non-vented? That's why the tank has a breather tube...!

You could block the vent. Is vent hole in centre on inside?

Can't see there being a big problem with having a vented cap? as long as they don't leak. The intention was to provide a car that was without the original caps a suitable alternative.

Some vented caps have one way vents, some have two way vents. Some open at a set pressure some are open all the time.

If the tank is already vented it won't matter if you fit a vented cap except if it leaks on the paint.
And if the cap leaks plug the vent.

I have both originals and these. Agree they are virtually identical in appearance. In fact even the originals varied around the edge over the years.

John Smidt (mini kingdom online) has had these for a while. He may have even been involved in them being reproduced.

Any more comments on the vent on these?
Can it be plugged up or is it a check valve so that they are good for a twin tank application?

Cpc do a non vented cap its the 15x and 20x auto one have them

I bought one of these Tridon caps for the Deluxe as I liked the look of them. I found that even for a vented cap there was a lot of fuel leaking and in the cap breather/drain section when I would take it off to refuel.
I pulled it apart on the weekend and found that the rubber seal mating with the blue valve/poppet breather housing wasn't in correctly and wasn't sealing well, this rubber seal actually seemed a little too large in diameter?

Apart from that I removed the vent valve/poppet and sealed off the hole and reassembled correctly, I used a nyloc nut and bolt so bolt can't come loose for some reason and fall in tank and rattle around. A stainless steel bolt would have been a little nicer but I didn't have any in the garage.
