Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me if these seats are original in my 77 Clubman 1275GT (ive been told they are).

They are really comfy, but are getting tatty. Would love to buy new covers for them. Anyone know if you can get these?

Otherwise can anyone suggest any replacement seats (my seats bolt to the floor as apparently they did this in the 76-79 Clubmans).

or failing that a Sydney based upholster.

Many thanks

Gavlar

If you mean 1275LS then, yes they look like the correct seats. There is no such (legitimate) thing as an Australian '77 1275GT...

Unfortunately I can't help you with the upholstery info. But you can fit many aftermarket seat into a mini if you wanted too. Cobra seats or seats from small two door Japanese cars seem to be popular. You can buy seat sub frames for the Cobras that basically makes them bolt-in, most other seats you will have to fabricate a way to mount them.

Another thing you have to consider when fitting aftermarket seats, if you're concerned about the legality of it, is making sure you meet relevant ADRs and any permit or engineering certification you need...

They are the correct seats for a 1978 Nugget Gold 1275LS.

If you post what area of Sydney you live in some maybe someone will be able to suggest a motor trimmer near you. Really any decent auto trimmer should be able to help you out, it's not like there is anything unusual about them.

The only problem might be that nearly 40 years later the same velour and vinyl may not be available. If the vinyl is still ok it might be possible to just replace the velour/cloth sections.

I've searched and searched for the material for the Gold LS seats - I heard some years ago Minisport in SA got their hands on a final reel of the material, which was subsequently sold off, explaining why a few LS's with this trim managed to be re-trimmed properly within the last decade.

I had to get my Nugget Gold 1275LS seats re-done with another fabric (kept the same colour but couldnt find the same corduroy like texture anywhere). That ended up being done at Sydney Motor Trimmers.

Will certainly keep an eye out for the material, but it seems to be long gone. They are the most comfortable of all the stock Mini seats I find :). Worth preserving and using if you can..

I just got my 2 Cobra Classics re-padded by Snowy's Auto & Marine Trim in Blacktown. He did a good job, was cheap too.
