Hey team. A quick question for those with a mini , and a rear bolt in cage installed. With my mini approaching ready I have a question...RE bolt in cages such as BOND. Is the cage straight forward to install and remove ? I am aware it is bolt in and requires obvious holes drilled. I ask , as i wonder if its possible to reserve the half cage or full for actual events , pull out later and keep her as a 4 seater for the road. PS i didnt even bother putting this past Peter at Bond roll cages...I know the answer *slaps me stupid* Thanks Ben |

you'd need to check CAMS (or other governing body depending on what you want to do) regulations for cages as to whether you're allowed to have a BOLT TOGETHER cage when competing. You obviously wouldn't be able to remove a welded front half from the car without cutting it up or taking the roof off the car |

look here http://docs.cams.com.au/Manual/GeneralRequirements/GQ11-Schedule-J-2015-1.pdf Section 13.1, 16 and 18 is probably as close to an answer in the regs as you will get. |

Quick update for those interested http://www.agi-precision.com.au/product ... i-classic/ Tells me a removable cage is entirely possible , and do able. |

PS I believe I have seen your welded mount points and they are very well done. Was it hard to remove the rear bins ? ![]() |

PS I believe I have seen your welded mount points and they are very well done. Was it hard to remove the rear bins ? ![]() Their work is extremely good. My engineer is quite tough, and usually won't pass a bolt-in rear cage (his words), but is happy to approve AGI's bolt-in cage. They don't like making cages with just foot plates for older cars, as it can punch through, so they make boxes that tie into multiple surfaces. When i gave Adam the car it was for their kit development. I told him he can cut the rear bins if needed, but he tried to retain them. I think due to the mounting boxes he couldnt fit them into the bins and weld. In theory, once installed, you could probably weld the rear bins back in around the cage. It looks possible. Anyway! To answer your question, i didnt cut the bins out haha. The guys at AGI did, so i assume they would have used a grinder or maybe some air tool |
