Hi All,
Wife and I have just purchased a 64 deluxe which I believe is supposed to have hydrolastic but being until now I have only had Mini's on dry suspension setups didn't really know what to look for to tell the difference. If someone could shed some light on this and share some pics that would be great . Also in terms of topping the hydro fluid up and the pump needed for this is this something that could be done at home or would it need a trip to Mini Classic?

Sorry for the basic questions but like a said the hydro setup is new to me :)

These hoses painted with the orange bands are for the front Hydro Bags

The bags look like this and are situated where the rubber cones go.

There are solid pipes under the boot and 2 service valves for pumping up and letting the fluid out.

Is it really a `64 Deluxe? I think The Mini Deluxe started in March, 1965, according to the timeline on Mini Automotive's website.
Anyway, re pumping hydro up, as you're in Campbelltown I'd contact Mini King (Glenn) at Narellan. he's a bit closer than Minis Classic!

Be very careful with hydro systems. Up to 300psi of fluid is contained in the lines.
When the system is pumped up you can usually fit 2 fingers between the top of the tyre and wheel arch on the front and 3 fingers on the rear.

I'm not entirlely sure on pressure, but 275 psi to 300 psi sounds right. Front height from centre of hub to wheel arch was 13 1/4" for Deluxe & 12 1/4" for Cooper S at the fore mentioned pressure.

Yes, that's right. Monday, 29th March 1965 to be exact according to the BMC Press Release.

John set Glenn the mechanic up in a unit across the road in Narellan, business still called Mini King. He does repairs and a few parts.
Unit 3, 5 Graham Hill Rd, Narellan.
But John is now out near Windsor, trading as http://www.minikingdomonline.com.au
