Can a 12g1128 g/box be fitted to a rod change car.
Only reason I am asking is that I was given and old 1275 engine
apparently out of a moke and I was going to keep it for spares for my 1275LS.

yes,

but change rody-shifter/bracket/mounts out to ext/remote style shifter housing & bracket/mount to the floor

& either swap outer axles from rody-type to early U/J style
or swap rod type diff inner axles into the 1128 case to suit rod type outer axles
