Post subject: | replacement floors |
Hi Guys, I've ordered replacement floors for my car and they are different to the current floors, the difference (other than the obvious rust) is the pressings appear to be narrower in the new floors and one of the channels extends right through the foot well of the new floor but not so in the old floor. I'm told the new panels are to suit hydrolastic models which is what my car is! Would anyone know if the panels that match my floor are still available? To the grub who sold me this car who shall remain nameless who lied about the rust situation (pointed out a 10 cent piece size rust hole and said "this is the only rust in the car" but knew there was much more... thanks you Grub! you know who you are! Yes I know buyer beware I should have checked it over better but sometimes you just hope to believe people are being honest with you.... Grub! |

When hydrolastic was first introduced on the Mini Deluxe (early 1965) the floor was the same original UK pressing as on non-hydro cars with the pipes secured underneath like the fuel pipe and battery cable. At a later date the Australian pressed floors with hydro channels in them (as per the new panel you have) became the replacement on all hydro Minis. You can still get the floor section you need. Here is the part from one supplier, but there are others. http://minikingdomonline.com.au/product ... -front-lh/ P.S. Like you I hate it when someone blatantly lies to you, especially someone who shares your interest. |

Hi Winnabey, Thanks for the feedback, looks like Ill be calling in to mini kingdom tomorrow.... your comments make sense and might finally confirm the year of the car because while the rego papers state its a 65 and the wiper motor is stamped 66, pictures I posted some months ago to identify my car saw forum members suggest the car was a 66 or 67 but it must be a 65 given your info cheers mate |

Your original floor looks like a clubman shape Leyland mini floor with cone suspension I don't know if they were the same pressing or not You should buy the grub a one way ticket to somewhere between Alice spring and Darwin in the summer time there's a few animals who love eating grubs out there |

drjbeam wrote: That looks like a clubman shape Leyland mini floor with cone suspension I don't know if they were the same pressing They kept the hydro's floor shape when they dropped hydro suspension. Even the Clubby van got them. Only real shape mod was a few bumps to mount the rodchange shifter, when that replaced remote. |

I was looking at the flat bit with the 3 channels and the large indent above them if he was going to cut that part out it looks the same |

TheMiniMan wrote: your floor is the early type, non hydro Yes, early floor with hydro, apparently they fitted hydro (like my car) to the early 65 Deluxe as Winabbey pointed out. |

Yep, my 66 deluxe was the same. Hydro but had early floor pans. I have had it for 46 years, 2nd owner and I know the 1st owner very well. Never pranged or interfered with. When I stripped it down recently, it was full of bog over dents, inside of doors different colour and a few other irregularities. the 1st owner didn't do it so it must have come like that from the factory (maybe a left over Italian Job car, ha ha ) |

Sorry wrong info just checked my pics of when I stripped out the interior to clean it up and it has a different floor its like that with the bit going straight through for the hydro lines like Dr mini said I always wondered what that bump was under my feet |

ever hopeful, what are your plans for the replacement floor now then, is it for sale, I have a replacement that would have fitted yours but I think PO butchered it trying to make it fit, when he should have got the one like your replacement. If you want to sell please let me know |
