Hi Have noticed low oil pressure when engine has warmed up Drops from 90psi when cold to 40psi when hot & 20psi at idle Have began to strip motor & noticed that the oil pump gasket appears to be seeping oil thru the small sealing area between the HP outlet & the bolt hole. I can see oil has been collecting in the cavity next to the bolt hole. Also the paper material appears to be soaked in oil. There is no sign of oil on the outside of the pump. Has anyone else had this problem? How much of a leak will it take to drop the oil pressure tom 40psi? Note that this has just happened. The engine has been built & been running for 5 years reliably https://www.flickr.com/photos/stefir/22 ... ed-public/ |

Make sure the pump body has a good chamfer on the corner that goes into the block. Some recent new pumps don't, and they don't seal the gasket at all. Because there is often a small radius in the block recess. Cure is to run the pump against a belt or disc sander to put a 1.5-2mm wide 45deg chamfer on it. Worked for me... |
