im building a mini. for the wheel size if i get a 13x7, does it handle better or worse than a 10x5

worse.

I went from 10x5 with crappy tyres to 13x6 and it handles about the same,, 10x5 with good tyres will be better for comfort and handling.

Just in case you are wondering, mini_man01, it's the fact that they are 7" wide that will make them handle worse, not because they are 13" in diameter. Also, with 13" wheels, you'll have to cut away at the arches.

I agree with ozmotorsport. Grab some 12"x5" rims with 165/60/12 tyres. I went the 12" because (depending on the style of the rim), the 13" can look too big on a Mini - my personal opinion, don't have a sad. 12" fill up the space a little more if that's what you're after.

Also if you go with 12" wheels you have a bigger choice of brakes.. disc brake options are pretty limited with 10" wheels.... as I know (got 3 sets).

I also reckon 13s are too big for handling- 12x5 are a good choice. 12x6 would be even better but I haven't seen them in Oz yet.

10s are the ULTIMATE wheel.

Racers use them.

Best all-rounder.

Piss these bloody 12" and 13" rubbish things off :)

Big willy
Advocate for 10" wheels. :D

They DO look proper on a roundnose though, as Mr Issigonis intended.

I like 'em all..depends what your after..

With 'S' Brakes..10's on a roundnose..

On any clubby...12's for looks and braking and handling compromise..

13's for looks if that's your thing on all of them..

Racer's also use 12 and 13's if i'm not mistaken for the front so they can fit better brakes ;)

So these wheels would be ok (ride/handling-wise) on the mini? (they're 12x5, polished diamond cut)
