Hey all, I want to get an engine running on the floor before i swap the grearbox on it. Problem is, i dont have a matching carby and manifold for it at the moment. Would i be able to run it by spraying something like start-ya-bastard directly into the manifold? Or is that a dumb idea? |

You could do it but you would need some sort of throttle or choke. I have run injected cars without a computer or fuel pump by filling the air filter with petrol and letting it suck the fumes. (but they don't run very well!) |

It worked on my other old car before I rebuilt the carby, a little spray every couple of seconds keeps it going.. Just be careful of backfires, which gets very interesting! |

When I worked for API we used to start injected jap engines by using a spray bottle of petrol, just a spray every now and then to keep them running. Then we could say they were "tested" |
