Putting the GB back together and with the shims I have I get either:-
0.0025" or 0.008" end float on the lay gear.
The good book says 0.003 to 0.006
Is 0.0025" too tight. Just can't quite get 0.003 feeler gauge in

.0025"will work.  If you want a little more, rub 1/2 a thou off the thrust washer on some 180 grit paper and a good flat (machined) surface or a piece of glass. Measure washer thickness with a micrometer. |

Thanks Kev I was considering some wet and dry on glass. As the 0.0025 slips in easily and the 0.003 just won't quite go, I'll assume it is close enough to 0.003" |
