Post subject: | loading/unloading bare shell |
Guys, I'm looking to pick up a bare shell in a mates pantec truck and we don't have access to a forklift or anything else...any ideas on getting it on and off the back of truck? how many blokes would it take? |

2 really strong or 4 in each corner . Rear end heavier. Easy done [WINKING FACE] |

A few of my brothers and I used a ladder against the back flat roofed shed (At a big angle), loaded the shell on the ladder and pushed/slid it up the ladder. There were a few of us, but I reckon 4 grown lads could do it this way. |

I do this all the time. Sometimes by myself. Lift the car onto saw horses to get it half way there, and then two people are enough to get the job done. By bare though, I mean nothing left, not even subframes, interior, nothing. |

Some interesting ideas thanks guys. Mick the car is already up on a dolly which can be wheeled to the back of truck, then I thought two of us would be able to lift it from the dolly to the back of the truck, but getting it down might be difficult, the car is a complete shell nothing else.... what does a bare shell weigh anyway?? |

A 2x4 screwed to the steering rack mount make great handles. You could change from low lift to high lift much more easily then grabbing the shell. |

2 lads can do it if they have a decent go. |

Recently did this a few times for transporting around for various quotes. Fits the back of a Mazda Bravo ute with 50 cm overhang. 2 blokes easily can lift it from a previously arranged stand pretty similar to Mick. Get one end up, the rest will follow. Likewise the same when unloading. |

Thanks to all who offered advice... we picked up the new shell today, two of us managed lifting it in and out of the truck quite easily... was all smooth sailing ![]() ![]() Cheers. |
