Having a look at my interior now woop, Although I may have to re-replace a rear bearing.

Anyway noticed that I am only able to get nice hot air from the heater, great in winter not so much in summer. After using a bit of force and gently manhandling the controls (the selector for hot/warm/cold was stiff) I have noticed the "temp" selector switch doesn't quite make it to "cold". when you try and push it to the extent of cold the cable just distorts behind the panel. Is there something I am trying to do that doesn't exist, does the heater need to come out and have a once over if not a refurb? or is there a fix I can do in the car, Did not get a chance to have a big look, if someone could tell me what I should be looking for that would be great.

Hi Hobson,

The heater cables are adjustable.
First thing you need to know is your heater tap working correctly. Discount the cable buy uncliping the black clip and if require the screw on the cable at the tap. Confirm you have full movement, the taps do jam up and may stop you closing or opening fully. If the heater tap is bad replace or try and clean it (remember the heater will be full of coolant). Once tap is fully functioning, You can adjust the cable by moving the cable under the black clip at the tap. (there are clip behind the panel too if you require move adjustment)

The heater tap will most likely be stuffed, they usually are, the easiest fix is to fit the tap to the motor like the Cooper S style but there are various aftermarket taps than can be made to work in the original position.

+1 for a siezed tap. They are $125 ea. You can fit a $20 one but they are a straight tap and the original is 90 degrees. There is a heater tap fix listed in the how to section if interested. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=44289

I just leave mine on hot all year round that way the waters going through the whole cooling system

I can put mine back to the cold mark easy enough though

There should be some big cardboard type air hoses coming from inside drivers guard from the plastic air intake under bonnet which them goes in the car which are smaller hoses

Mine were still under the guard until I cleaned under there with a gerni
