My mate's wet front subby was cracked around the top corner of both towers, I've now MIG welded it up. However, when stripping it I found the LH bag sits OK but won't lock in. The bag's bayonets are OK but the bit inside the tower is nfg. The RH bag is fine. Provided I hold the bag square when pumping the hydro up, would it matter? Surely 275psi would keep it straight? It was sitting crooked when I removed it. I dunno who fitted it last time. [edit] Also the 2 screw retainer bracket on that side was straightened out, I have a good spare one here to refit. |

Hi Doc, My left hand tower bayonet was not locking in, it was sitting in the bayonet squarely but just not locking in. I got some rubber packer, probably about 6mm thick placed it behind the displacer and then pushed the retainer clamp up in the front of the displacer as snug as I could (I may have slightly bent it to get better clamp, I can’t remember) once done this it was pretty solid in there. Has been fine since although when I stop the car at lights and then accelerate I get a faint clunk noise but I have been told it is the front shoes grabbing. Otherwise I haven’t noticed any problems. The bayonet is pretty flimsy (I was quite surprised that it was only 2mm ish pressed steel holding in the displacer, apart from the clamp and the weight of the car). |

Thanks for the advice. Subby is back together, the bag feels straight and firm now with an unbent retainer bracket under it. |
