Hi All, I know this has been discussed many times but I haven't been able to find what I am looking for. Could some kind soul point me in the direction of a topic regarding correct methods for adjusting the ball joints? I have tried doing it as per the manual, ie: removing the spring and adjusting till theres no play, measuring the gap with feelers then fitting the correct amount of shims and lock washer. This results in the joint locking up and far too tight. Cheers, Richard. |

I haven't had any luck with measuring either. That leaves you with the suck it and see solution. Undo what you have, add another thin shim, retighten and test. Repeat as required. Don't forget to measure the shim before you add - the pack will contain shims of various sizes (if you haven't worked this out already ![]() Cheers, Ian |

May be a bit late for you now but this thread includes a BMC technical bulletin on the topic - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82831 |

You could just do what the previous owner of my my mini did. Don't use any shims, and just wind it in until it's about right, and then hold it in place with the lock tab. Pro tip: Don't do this unless you want to die. |

Scary ride.. (no it wasn't mine). |
