I am trying to jack the engine up to remove the radiator, but the whole car is going up.
Have I missed removing some bolts on the engine mount?
Help !
Do I need to remove the bolt in the last photo and it's opposite one rearward on the mount?

Jacked it up some more and finally the engine mount started to seperate from the chassis. Got the rad and cowl out with a little twist and upward movement.  Happy now ! |

yeah, the car will go up a bit until you've unloaded the front suspension... that engine mount is a bit 2nd hand, though nice to see someone has welded nuts onto it, always baffles me that people persevere with trying to hold nuts in place and try to put a bolt through it - horrible job, welding nuts on is much smarter |

You can do it - it involves taking off the top bracket, then the cowl, then the radiator, and much, much easier if you raise the engine first. Getting the screws out that attach the cowl to the radiator is the hard bit.I used to have phillips head screws in there (not sure if that's what was originally there), but I replaced them with some hex head screws so I can use a ratcheting spanner to get them out. |

Had to raise the right side of the engine mount about two inches before the radiator and cowl would come up as you said the suspension took a while to take up. Top engine support removed.  The middle hex screw was a bit rounded off and could only be undone with some grips after the rad was out.  Some clips had slipped out of place on the cowl and two hex screws were missing.  I agree the engine mount looks suspect, how do I go about replacing the engine mount now? |

Interesting! After 40 years of removing mini radiators I have never undone the engine mount and jacked up the engine? My 1960s workshop manual never indicated this was a step to perform. Takes about 20 to 30 minutes to remove without touching the engine mount.

Easy out radiator removal. No need to worry about touching the dog bone engine steady bar. |

I spent nearly a day trying to get my radiator out once. Gave up. Read the How To and had it out in a few minutes. Remove the engine mount bolts. Remove or undo the body end of the engine steady if you have one at the radiator end. Jack up engine as far as it will go. Undo the bolts holding the cowl to the engine bracket. Disconnect hoses. Lift out. |

Now's a good time to change out the bypass hose & bottom radiator hose if they have some age on them , way easier to do now than on the side of the road somewhere  .PS; i used a piece of heater hose instead of the standard type bypass hose , ( i don't trust them )they look like crap rubber nowdays . |

Going to replace the lower radiator hose with one without heater hose, as I don't have a heater in the car. I looked at the bypass hose and it looks like it's been there a long time, that looks like a bugger of a job to do. Will check the water pump for any noise or play. thanks for all the advice. |
