the matic has been written off
mum gets the checque
i get the wreck

seeing as im 21 (4 years until cheap insurance)
and insurance is expected to be $821 for me to reinsure herman once i get him fixed
and ive only driven him 6000 miles in two years
and have always wanted to pull him apart and put him back together
and have trevor the moke who i can rough it out with for the next few years

i thought i'd do a JAM/Marcia on herman
and learn how to pull things apart (some would say i already do it too well), put things back together (some would say i dont do it too well), weld, rub back, paint etc.

can anyone suggest any other options i can take?

first you must learn patiance.
Then you must learn how to save

The other things you will as quations and collate and put into practice
it will not be a quck job but you will enjoy the end result

Duc, do your homework and be sure you can register the car after you do a resto. Contact the RTA, AND your insurance company (if you haven't already).

I know you have the patience to do a long term resto. I think a totally original matic restored to the 'Dorothy' standard would be a credit to the Mini community. Do it mate!! 8) Good luck.

called around this morn:

1. shannons is willing to re-insure a previously written off car. pictures or an inspection will be needed.
the car was a repairable write off.

2. being over 15 years old, the RTA does not black label the car
and yes, i will be ok to re-register it

3. i have ordered new front panels for herman, and will pick them up soon

4. i would like to redo the whole floor (second hand floor in much better condition sourced). how should this be gone about?
(eg engine out, hydros out, flipped on the side, cut out etc)

and then ill strip him down myself
