I'm about to embark on the complete restoration of a Mk1 1966 Cooper S and undecided on colours.

What colours were used on the 1966 Mk1 Cooper S?

May I ask that you upload images of your Cooper S so that I can determine the best options for me. Any angles or lighting and perhaps interior contrast shots too if you have some available?

Thanks in advance everyone

If you are looking to replicate an actual colour combination as delivered from the production line this factory document may help.

When you get the original I'd plate it will have the original colour combination stamped onto it. I know there will be debate about whether to stay with original colour/colours or not but my view has alway been to stay original but that is just me (I got hammered by quite a few people when I painted my 67 mk1 monotone new British racing green as per the colour on the car and ID plate). In the end it is entirely up to you which way to go and I'm sure it will be great whichever way you decide.l to go as it is your car.
I've alway had a liking for the white with burgundy roof and red interior.
Good luck with the restoration.
Cheers
Rod

I would keep it original to the colours listed on the plate.

I congratulate you for not following the rest of the sheep and putting a white roof on it :)

always go with the original colour, or Shadow Blue...

I think the most desirable and valuable Mark 1 Cooper S's are nearly always painted in their original colours as per the ID plate.

Agreed! I would always rather a Snow White original colour scheme car than Snow White car painted BRG!

This colour scheme looks the same as your car. Marine Blue / Toga White roof. Car number is 29 before yours.

I think I'll be following your advice guys and sticking to the original colour scheme. It does look rather good now I have had a good look through the net and seen a few.

That BRG looks good though :D

I'm going to stick with Marine Blue / Toga White roof.

I'm going to run with all black interior though, not what the car came with, but I really don't like the greenish upholstery it originally came with.
