Hey everyone.
I am restoring the headlight buckets for my build. I have four headlights (two from two different cars) and I have noticed:
- Type 1: Round backed, small hole for cables to exit, Lucas written on it
- Type 2: Flattened section on the back, larger hole for cables to exit, looks to be aftermarket.
I only have 1 of the Type 1s (see below):

I have three of the Type 2s:

So here's the thing - my new wiring loom has a small grommet on it which leads me to believe I should use type 1. It would mean I have to source another bucket. A quick internet search seems to show that I can source this from the US
http://www.minimania.com/part/MS14/Meta ... dget--MiniIs the inner chrome ring interchangeable between the two types? If not, I'd also have to get a second inner ring.
The other option is to use some larger grommets and fit all of the gear to the Type 2 buckets. But if I need to replace some of the chrome work, and if the inner rings aren't interchangeable, I doubt I can source the replacement rings.
Any ideas on which way I should go?
- Buy another Type 1 metal bucket from the US and another inner chrome ring from MiniKingdom
- Use the Type 2 buckets and just find a large grommet for the new loom to exit the buckets
Any info gratefully received
