Post subject:  6" minator wheels
Will 6" Minator wheels fit a cooper s with the normal flares or will they hang out too much , pics if you have them please.

In the great Aussie flare shortage of 2014 I bought Minator 10x6" as they apparently fit under the Wood and Pickett flares I was going to buy instead.

Then the Aussie flares became available and I returned the 6" and swapped them for 5" as Minisport Adelaide assured me that the 6" wouldn't fit under the Aussie round nose flares.

So I don't have first hand experience as I didn't have tyres on the rims and therefore didn't try to dummy fit them against the Aussie flares; but that was their advice. (Perhaps you could run crazy neg camber to get the tread under the flares...?)

The flares on James car are a fiberglass repro of the wider cooper s flares. The rims are fitted with new 145 Yoki's and they sit flush with the outer edge of the guard. Look good but there has been issues with the front wheels scraping the inside edge on the front of the flares. His car does sit a little lower, however, we have just fitted new adjustable suspension whilst putting his new motor in, not quit :D e finished. So it will be interesting to see how it performs when all is complete. DaveP, Dad, the mechanic!

Have 10x6 minators on my car, Won,t fit. under standard or wide aussie flares, Ended up with W&P flares Looks OK to me but hasn,t passed RWC yet. [fingers crossed]

I think the rules vary from state to state. In SA they are quite strict, the tyre cannot be visible from above. This would be why Minisport SA would have said they are not suitable. Back in the 60's BMC had to get SA dealers to fit flares to brand new standard Mk1 Cooper S before they could be sold and owners were contacted to return their cars to have them retro fitted. This would be part of the reason flares became standard on the Mk2 Cooper S.

I thought NSW was a little less strict in that the tread of the tyre needs to be covered.
