I have a little play in the input shaft bearing, the one that sits in the wall of the gearbox casing. Should their be any play in this? It is not noisy, just everything else seems firm and i can move the shaft a tiny bit up and down( minimal amount) just on that end. Is it neading that bearing replaced? If so , how? Cheers, Steve |

It really is minute, the one in the middle has no play, im guessing the first motion bearing and race would keep this end true? Cheers Steve |

Been reading some uk forums which say it is nothing to worry about ( if very small movement) as it is also supported in the clutch housing casing. I hooked up remote housing and all seems to work as it should, even looks like second gear wont jump out ![]() |

"even looks like second gear wont jump out" How did you come to that observation? |

lol, just by looking at synchros, spinning in all gears and seeing how firm everything was. Have played around with one I know was stuffed before and things felt a lot looser, I could be wrong, but I cant afford gearbox rebuild at the moment so am keeping fingers crossed!! Cheers, Steve |

What did 1/2 selector fork and syncro hub look like? |

All looked pretty good, very little wear in selector forks. Is a remote box, feels quite tight when shifting too. |

I remember about fifteen years ago when my Dad had to change the selector fork on 1/2 cause it was terribly worn and ended up rebuilding box at the same time, this one looks like a very good fit with little to no wear. |

If it moves much the nose of the mainshaft and its needle bearing are worn. Check the shaft has not worn through the hardening. |
