I have a 1100 motor bored 40 thou running twin sus and extractors with full exhaust system but standard head. What's people's opinion on sticking a RE13 can in it for some more revs and fun?? |

1098 goes well with RE13, even better with some bigger intake valves and a ported to suit. |

Fresh build or done lotsa miles? Unless it's low miles I'd not just toss a cam in. As for revs, you don't want to rev a 1098 real hard if you want it to last. (been there, broke one good). 7000 tops. An RE13 will give peak power around 6500. If you want better torque from lower down and not have to rev so hard, use an RE266SS instead. |

yes the motor is in fresh condition just did a total rebuild, today I drove a mini with the RE13 cam in it and loved it but the head has been ported and worked. Just not sure if Id find improvement with a stock head |

You would want to change the valve springs if fitting a cam, stock springs bounce @ 5500 with a stock cam! Karcraft sells a 7000rpm set of doubles pretty cheap. re the head, there is no need to port it out big, for a road motor. But the 12G202 head's inlet valves are a bit small if you want good HP. Buy a set of 998 Cooper ones and get the seats recut to suit. |

Are these cams RE13 and RE266SS readily available or is it a six months waiting time |

Otherwise, send a near stock cam to Graham to grind, it should turn around in a week or 2. Well, mine always have..! ![]() RE13 is an older grind, but still works well. Has a little more top end than the 266SS. |
