viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42629Tags on Mk2 are : AUD 440 L & 440 R .
Carb bodies have on them AUC 870 & AUC 871 for Mk2
I have the same ID numbers on 1200 # Clubman GT
Looking at the carburettor manual (AKD5036) and I do appreciate that some of this may not apply to cars imported to or made in Oz. (had to get that out of the way in case I get jumped on... )
Note that the British parts manuals for the MK I and II Cooper S do not list the parts for the carbs. You have to rely on the BMC carb manuals. And so the fun starts....
Mini Cooper S (1070) AUD99
Mini-Cooper (997) AUD15
Mini-Cooper (998) AUD104
Mini-Cooper (970) AUD151
Mini-Cooper S (1275) AUD146 thus carries tags AUD146L and AUD146R. Applies to MK I and II from memory.
Parts book for the early GT (PUB1052) lists AUD440 as the carbs for the 1275 motor and AUD368 for the 1098 motor.
All the above carburettors are variations on the same design, for example the 998 unit uses blue piston springs while all the others use red springs. There are differences in the needles, the floats and the float chamber lids. A cursory look indicates that all the other parts are the same. Pretty well all are still available from such places as Burlen. Except the bodies in these early units do not have the side vents and the replacement part (with the same number) does. The problem is that many of these carb units have been seriously munged and just have the correct tags for the car and often not much else that is correct (er..... the Mini world correct? HoHo - I define correct as per the manuals - and often they weren't built as per the manuals - if a piece in the parts bins fitted, it was often used).
Anyhoo, if someone wants scanned copies of the BMS carb manuals drop me a pm and I can send the appropriate part of the book. If anyone wants the whole book, it's fairly large and broken up into carb types.
Cheers and Happy New Year
