G'day, if your like me when you bought your 4 coil springs that's all you got 4 springs, so how to fit them. After you remove the old doughnuts you will find a shallow cup or lip about 105mm in diam up in the top of the cross member tower, it was where the doughnut located so we are going to use this lip to locate the spring. First you need two 100mm X 3.2 round disks with a 25mm hole bored or cut with a hole blade, this is to allow the bolt holding the body to cross member protrude through if need be. Next cut 2 egg rings from 2" pipe, slit each ring and open out till they are a loose fit in the large end of a spring and weld in 4 positions to each disk, paint them and apply silastic to each disk, flat side not egg ring, and offer them up into the towers, they will stay there and set overnight. If you have Hi-Lo's apply silicon to the upper surface which contacts the spring bottom and Apply silastic to each large spring end and offer the springs up to locate on the egg ring then the Hi-Lo's, you will run out of hands quickly now so have the packing rag handy I kept the springs up with an old bed sheet stuffed up each tower, leave overnight. As you have the upper wishbones out it's a good time to wash out the needle bearings and shafts and inspect and replace if need be. if you don't have Hi-Los and don't feel like buying them, I made mine by cutting two disks the same diam. as the spring small end, bored a 25mm hole in the centre, welded an egg ring to the upper side and a 60mm length of 25mm pipe in the previously bored 25mm hole. I added 3 webs, next I cut two 60mm lengths of 3/4" threaded bar and bored a hole large enough for the knuckle pin and 25mm deep, I also cut two 3/4 Nyloc nuts down to 10mm otherwise it would be too hard to fit the knuckle pin on assembly, and ground 2 flats 3 threads wide on the threaded bar so that the threaded bar could be held while wind the nut up/down. So Now you should have the locating plate stuck up in the tower, the spring under the locating plates and Hi-Lo's under the spring, all that remains to be done now is present the w/bones to the spring assembly and guide the knuckle pin in each Hi-LO, add wheel and lower, about 2 fingers gap seems right for the wheel arch tyre gap,Joe.
