Hey guys. I'm new to the mini scene. I brought an round nose mini for a project. All the running gear was already setup in the car had been completely rebuilt. I noticed that the the gearbox won't select 1st or 2nd. But to the point where it won't slide into the gate to select 1st or 2nd......3rd 4th and reverse gears work perfectly. Is there anything I could try to adjust externally. Like linkages. Bolts. Selector shaft or anything else so I can avoid bringing it to someone and paying mega bucks . |

What gearbox do you have? Remote or Rod or magic wand? |

Sorry, should have read the title.. Is the problem when the engine is running, or all the time? It could be the plate on the bottom of the shifter, it has a lockout for reverse, but if it is in backwards it might be locking out 1&2. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=88517&hilit=reverse+lock%2A+plate The selector rod could also be connected 180 degrees out on the roll pin. http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/to ... -problems/ |

Mate you are an absolute ****ing legend. Thanks heaps. Works perfectly now. It was the plate under the gear change. 180 out |

You able to post a picture of what part you swapped 180 degrees as i know someone having the same problem after he just got the gearbox back and it might save him the head ace... |

There is a bit of steel bar welded inside that cover, it's the stop gate for reverse. If worn bad, you should build it up with weld and grind flat again. |

Yep 180 degree turn around fixed it. |
