It goes onto the head first, then the thermo housing.
Not much room for it at front end of head. PITA to fit compared to the smallbore one.

Hmmm I've just realised that i now need to use the 1275 radiator bracket and steady bracket..... I've got a steady brackey, but dont remember seeing one installed... Can you big-block boys and girls take some pics for me ? inquiring minds need to know..... J |

We used the standard steady and made up custom brackets front and rear - [sitting on a 940 head] 
The front steady needs to extend further rearwards to clear the extra meat at the back of the big bore head. So the steady arm needs to be shorter to fit onto a standard rear bracket or you move the rear bracket mount hole backwards. Hope it helps Dat |

I used the factory bracket on the car frame, but made up a bracket on the engine side, and used a standard steady bar. But my radiators different to most, apparently. Later clubbys had a different top hose arrangement. Is yours later clubby/roundy/? |

Is yours later clubby/roundy/? The difference is the top hose pointing backwards instead of to the front as the later clubbie's had the air pump attached to the thermostat housing. |

air pump? huh? I dont remember seeing any air pump... oooh the emission control air pump.. umm that went long time ago, but yeah, there are a couple of holes in the thermostat housing that would have been for that. I wondered what they were for

Yep... it's more common to see a Mini with one taken off, than one with it on. I've seen like 2 Mini's ever with the air pump.
