MK1 Cooper S YKG2S2 540 is not on the register.

Did you own it or has it popped up for sale?

GTO1969 - I think he's talking about the car that's the 540'th on the Mark 1 list, so YKG2S2 4495.

That first column in the registers is simply there to give a running count of cars. Some people are using for a reference, which can be an issue because the numbers will change each update.

I did think of that after I posted my reply. Anyway I don't have anything on that one but the colours are not common.

Sorry about any confusion, I did mean no 540 on the list; car no 4637 on the ID plate.
It's for sale. The ID plate States engine no 9F/SA Y46206 and on the block 9/F/SA/Y 43582. The current owner didn't know any history, so was hoping someone out there might be aware of this car and it's past.

I have seen the ID plate. It doesn't look good.

There might be a story that justifies it, but the paint colours are out of sequence, the engine number is badly out of sequence, the stamps used on the plate are not the font used by BMC.
It just doesn't smell right.

What colour is the car now?
The ID plate says Burgundy Red roof, Toga White body but the engine bay and wiper panel is Burgundy. Maybe the got the colours around the wrong way when they stamped it.

The car body has been repainted burgundy red / white roof. The interior paint on the rear windows appears to be original burgundy red. Could you post a photo of a Mlk 1 ID plate?
Thanks

Murray

Send a PM to miniresto and he can pass on a few pieces of information from the register that are not in the public domain.
