Hi All My Son Matt run one of his rotary Mazda's on the dyno today with gulf Western 20W 50 oil, these motors generate a lot of heat in the room while running in the exhaust pipes running red hot most of the time. The temperature in the room was 130 F the oil temp was 130C or 266 F way above what most race cars would run at, at full RPM 9500 the oil pressure dropped 7to8 lb and at idle it dropped 10 lb that's less than the race oil we use (BRAD PENN ) to me this is one of the best tests we could ever give an oil as these Rotaries really torture the oil running at very high RPM and very high temperatures i was told that we could run this oil in our race engines and after this test i'm thinking mybe this oil is as good as they say it is. Well they run it in top fuel drag racers and such so I guess it's got to be alright, plus it's cheap ![]() |
