Hi All,

Has anyone built a Mini Clubman Van into a track car, I'm thinking outside the box here (I guess)?

What are your thoughts, Pro's Cons??

Thanks
Mick

They are lighter than sedans (depending on model) although may not be as rigid but once it has a cage it will be same same. The longer wheel base will be more stable. I'm not sure about aero dynamics with the van back....

It has been done. You can get fiberglass one piece rear doors that save a heap of weight.
The vans flex too much at the rear, but bracing or fully tied in cage would stop that.

Aero is slightly "less worse" than the sedan.
Weight is heavier than a stripped out sedan.

every now & then they kicked me up a grade cause we were winning so much in every category so we ended up in the saloon car races with grand national cars running methanol injected V8`s & such,,, & we still did the business on them hee hee

Great Photo's Matt, Keep them coming :)

I'm thinking more tarmac based for us, also already have a one piece Fibreglass Morris front end to go on or could use the Clubby fibreglass bonnets I have.

Just thought it would not be common a van running around, good space for stickers on it, options to Mid mount something later on.

This one is an old Aussie factory converted wagon (from a van)
we sold this to a friend of mine (hope to get it back one day)
& ended up with a clubman front & such, but anyways, it was one of ReadSpeeds old delivery vans for years n years & then my brother had it for a while then my mate got it & the whole while it was raced in morokhanas, autocross, hillclimbs & Lakeside circuit sprints

this thing has also done sooooo many trips to Melbourne & back it would make you all dizzy
still going but parked up waiting for me to grab it back off him :-)

anyone care to have a go at racing this mini van ??? :-)

Image

this was an old "Royal Brisbane Hospital Ambulance" ,,, eventually turned into a "laundry van" for within the grounds of the hospital for years,,, there were 5x of these if my memory serves me correctly,,, but dad ended up buying this one after the hospital wards-men were racing them around the hospital grounds & crashed this one into a big pole,,, we fixed her up & ran it as a delivery van for years & also a lunch van for race meetings :-) now gone to the big mini scrap-metal yard in the sky sadly :-(
