Was wondering if anyone has recently shipped a disc brake conversion from Minispares Uk over here? What cost would I be looking at?

Oh, and do four pot disc brake kits actually foul on hydro cars as per the ad suggests they might? I have had conflicting opinions.

I assume you know you can get these disk brake kits locally? Might work out easier and cheaper than from OS, and also supports the local Mini parts businesses.

I can't answer your question on four-pot clearances.

Not exactly recent but I had some shipped over in Jan 2015, cost for shipping was 132 pounds. Wouldn't imagine the price would have changed that much, but with the current exchange rate you may find you can get what you need locally and the price is not that different.

Karcraft has the C-AJJ4028MS kit for around $1050

Remember if you bring it in from o/s you get pinged for GST + customs charges over $1000 AUD

i`m pretty sure, (not certain yet) but they are dropping the price limit down to zero , so there will be GST on "Everything" you bring into the country,,, i don`t know when or how they`re going to do it, but word is that they are going to or already have.

That has not happened. There was much talk about it, but it has not materialised.

Thanks for all of your responses. I am only asking because I really hope that it is the case that I can buy locally for cheaper - I would much prefer this than having to worry about the shipping and importing costs. (As well as giving a bit of business locally too!)

Anyone got any ideas in regards to clearances with the four pots on hydro cars?

Hi,
Most of the fitting issues are around wheel sizes not neccessarily the suspension, but that being said, if the kit suggests an issue ask the supplier the question.
Shipping will depend on whether you need the full kit with hubs, CV's, discs, bearings, etc or just the calipers or calipers and discs. Certainly try the local mini shops but on minispares etc you can go through the checkout to get a shipping quote without committing to buy if you want to see total cost delivered to compare with local suppliers.
Cheers
Rod

The costs of shipping and importation has to be paid at some point; either the customer directly or the customer after the local business has done the work for you im positioning the goods in Aust ready for sale.

Administering the system would likely exceed the revenue.

Thanks one and all once again. Now just hoping someone knows if you can run a hydro car, with four pot calipers, with 10x4.75 rose petal wheels.

As rodmac said above, suggest you start by asking Minispares the question as they made the statement.
