Have received a pair of heat shields for 1.25 SU's, they have large fractures running from the top to the bottom, is this a common problem or have they just had a hard time in the past. The chalk line shows roughly the fracture, someone in the past has tried to weld them with a stick welder. I am able to weld them, but if it is a common problem it may not be worth the effort! I have had one crack in a similar position. So it must be fairly common. |

uh huh. I reckon stick welded heat shields are a period accessory! They cop a hiding in their position through heat and vibration. |

very common - been there done that - they flap around and fatigue, welding works - until next time |

Mine are cracked along the vertical fold, and repaired with pigeon quality welding. I've cleaned up it as good as possible, but you won't really see it so I'm not too worried. You can get the kit new at most shops http://minisport.com.au/mini-heat-shiel ... th-springs |
