After inspecting the upper control arm i have found the front thrust face somewhat worn Thus when you assemble the shaft and thrust washers there is endfloat Has anyone done a fix for this My idea was to braze up the end and re-machine it to remove the endfloat All ideas appreciated Also does the thick washer go to the front as my manual tells me nothing and its a Leyland Aust one |

I would have done the same, but found a better one. |

In relation to the fitment of the thrust, I had the same question. I have five different manuals and all showed different photos and no clear instruction. An English book by Kenneth Ball on Mini Coopers (Autopress) stated that the thicker thrust is called the Thrust collar and is fitted adjacent to the diamond shaped retaining plate located to the front of the car and subsequently the thrust washer (thinner) is fitted to the rear. Similarly a late model Rover Mini manual shows the thrust collar to the front in the suspension diagram |
