There is a US shop that makes a bracket to suit rod change in an earlier car. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to knock one up to replicate it http://www.minimania.com/part/22G2026MM ... Rod-Change |

You can thump the floor a bit and fit the rodchange bracket to earlier cars. We had a 67 Deluxe with one in. Unlike UK cars the Oz rodchange floor panel is almost the same as a deluxe or K one. |

The last one I saw being done involved fitting a rod change into a 63 Cooper shell... It was quite simple but did need a few small brackets made. Just bits of thin sheet steel strap bent up in a vice with a few holes drilled. I think there were a few bobbin type exhaust mounts used as well. Its a case of offering the rod unit up, seeing what needs to be connected and making up the required bits. No special tools necessary... Cheers, Ian |

In my Deluxe, the previous owner had put a rod chsnge box in it ( being a deluxe it was origjnslly remote) When I took it all apart the tunnel had been cut away a little to accommodate the rod change. Not sure if others have found this, but the gear stick hole was definitely cut somewhat. |

Yes the tunnel square hole needs a little trimming. |
