There is a US shop that makes a bracket to suit rod change in an earlier car. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to knock one up to replicate it

You can thump the floor a bit and fit the rodchange bracket to earlier cars. We had a 67 Deluxe with one in.
Unlike UK cars the Oz rodchange floor panel is almost the same as a deluxe or K one.

The last one I saw being done involved fitting a rod change into a 63 Cooper shell...

It was quite simple but did need a few small brackets made. Just bits of thin sheet steel strap bent up in a vice with a few holes drilled. I think there were a few bobbin type exhaust mounts used as well.

Its a case of offering the rod unit up, seeing what needs to be connected and making up the required bits. No special tools necessary...

Cheers, Ian

In my Deluxe, the previous owner had put a rod chsnge box in it ( being a deluxe it was origjnslly remote)

When I took it all apart the tunnel had been cut away a little to accommodate the rod change. Not sure if others have found this, but the gear stick hole was definitely cut somewhat.

Yes the tunnel square hole needs a little trimming.
