I used to buy a lot from MiniSpares but when English and US postage rates went through the roof a while back I found the Karcraft were just as economical. I only get stuff from OS when either it is on special and cost plus freight is less than here or I can't get the item here. |

I think MiniSport in SA sell them for $1795AUD. Why bother importing yourself if that's what you will pay in OZ? |

Save on the bother, plus help keep the local guys in business who are usually a good source of information (not to mention convenient). ![]() |

yea.....keep your cash in OZ ![]() It's fun to buy from OS, but most things can be purchased here now, at decent prices. You just have to look around. |

I'm interested in this too. I've been offered some "cooper" brakes which fit 10" wheels, but all new parts sounds like a pretty good deal - I have no interest in heritage or tradition, but ease of use and servicability. Has anyone installed said kit? |

I have this kit, but had it changed to uprated grooved discs and 4 pot alloy calipers, so it cost a bit more. Top quality and easy to assemble if you know how to pack bearings properly, etc. Tony will assemble the kit for you for a bit extra if you don't want to/can't do it yourself. That being said, I do not have them on the car yet, but I doubt there will be any issues with it. They are sitting there assemble waiting for the shell to be finished. Why buy a set of 2nd hand Cooper S brakes for $1400-1500 and then spend $500-1000 refurbing them? To get that kit in from the UK, you are already at $1400 (?600), then freight is $255 (?110 - which is what MiniSpares UK quoted me when I was looking for brakes) and then you cop 15% duty and then you get 10% GST. You can then cop handling fees on top of that, so at a bare minimum, you are looking at ~$2100. |

When I visit Melbourne I buy from Northern Mini Parts. They bring stuff in from the UK from people like Mini Spares, Mini Sport & Huddersfield Spares. Their wheel range is great and they have 3 times the range of anybody else in Australia. The shop is packed with stuff. I have gone to Karcraft but they didn't have the range & there is nothing to see when you go to their warehouse counter. |

Up until Tony in SA started selling import goodies for excellent prices, i got a fair bit of stuff in. The best I found in general was mini spares. They are crap with enquiries, and half the time the stuff you want is out of stock, and you have to insist on royal mail or they'll ship via UPS. ![]() ![]() Others I have found good are: *Maniflow for inlet manifolds / extractors *Burlen Fuel for SU fuel pump *Somerford Mini for a real person contact for hard to find bits. This being said, I try to buy from aus whenever possible, it's only when i can't get the parts at all, or the prices are way over inflated!! Cheers matt |
