Don't quote me but from here it looks like you need to have the valves either reground or unleaded valve seats put in. They look pretty stuffed...

What does the other side look like? Is it a 12G940 head for a big bore? If it's a 12G202 then they are dime a dozen so I'd look out for something better...

The head has seen better days...clean it up a little more and check for minute, hairline cracks around the combustion chamber and valve seat areas....if OK....take it to a mechanic or head reconditioning place for a quote.

It might be easier tho to use it as a doorstop and find a better proposition somewheres....if you turn it over...you should see a number cast into the head like 12G202 for example..that will tell us (an you) what it is off.

It's a stocko 998 head. Nothing special. The exhaust valve seats look crook, it would either need oversize valves fitted or unleaded seat inserts. And a set of new valves & guides anyway.

I'd look for a better base head to start with- either a 12G202 (off a 1098) or preferably a 12G295 (Cooper 998) if you can find one...

There was a fully recond 295 head at Mini Spares Padstow, today for $695? Complete assembled with new valves dual springs etc etc.
Stock ports etc, but these 295s are good even stock.

OTOH, you could probably pick up a good recond 202 one for a couple of hundred. people on here have heaps.... just put an ad in `wanted' forum.. 8)
