1977 Clubman.

The parcel shelf under the rear window has been cut (by P/O) to accommodate large 6 x 9 speakers... and there are also two other large holes towards the centre...

Needing to fit seat-belts and child restraints to the original mounting points (which are still there) but I believe the integrity of the rear shelf may have been compromised due to the speaker holes...

What experience have others had with RWC and Qld Transport Compliance with such modifications..?

Car in Qld.

Cheers,
Mark.

They don't take kindly to big holes cut near important mountings. You could repair them or add reinforcing around them.
Some of the blue plate guys i've dealt with are really podantic with everything. They sometimes want stuff really over engineered.

I did a bit more thinking about this and realised you shouldn't need a mod plate if the mounting nuts are already in there. You only need to have them checked if they have to be fitted, they just check the mounts. I'd still be inclined to make sure they're not compromised by the speaker holes. Also, if they're for kids, I'd fit retractables because kids don't like being hog tied by fixed ones. Klippan make a good one, I have them in mine, not that anyone has actually used them yet. :-)

What they don't know won't hurt them, but may end up hurting you.

Have you got a picture. I have a feeling (could be wrong) that the other two holes you mention could be factory.
