Went to the Goulburn swap meet yesterday, got there at 6.45am, already fairly crowded at that time and I think we saw most exhibitors except the ones that were still arriving and setting up. I saw 2 steel mini wheels, 2 trailing arms with backing plates and one white mini listed as a ex Police mini for $11000. My wife had better luck than me as she got to buy some glass ware that she collects, I was hoping for at least one set of mags that I could haggle over, but there was nothing. Might have to look at organizing a mini only swap meet where the Ford/Holden brigade waste their time looking for items that are not to be found

It would be great for the minis in the gong car show could be a mini swap meet as well, sadly the swap meets are pretty slim pickings for mini parts

Yes I find it strange that there is rarely much mini stuff.

When considering minis were built for 17yrs here and sold pretty well, I believe as well as Holdens and Fords for much of its life.

And mini parts didn't change a great deal. Yet there is always lots of Holden and Ford stuff, but not much mini.

I dont know.....

Because we hoard all the parts because "one day" I might need all 35 of these identical bits :D

I read in the nsw mini car club mag late last year that this year there doing that at there once a month meetings at bankstown holding a little swap sell thing

I think It was a milk create full of parts per person who brought parts to the meeting for the swap

I dont know if they went through with it I have never been to a club meeting

The only show I know of to have a swap and show combined is reds rodstock at luddenham show ground in November usually

Theres a swap out there on the 17th of this month the Regency Ramblers are holding it and they lost there club place because of the airport being built id say the boys were saying its there last swap at the club place last year

I reckon it would be a good way to intice new members to join, if it was of a decent size

I go to many Mini Club meetings (at Five dock) and was at the first "milk crate swap meet" meeting a couple of months ago. They will do them every second meeting.

Was actually good - mostly mini parts....picked up a starter motor for $10 which works perfectly (where was it when I needed it 3 months ago and bought a brand new one.... :( )
Got an almost as new water pump for $15 as a spare, and a copy of "Goodbye Pork Pie" DVD for $5.

Could have bought more but garage is getting full.....

Will take a crate of stuff for the next swap meet meeting.....so I can buy more stuff when I sell that! :D

Sadly the swap meets are just turning into trash events with the same vendors peddling last decades same rubbish. The Toowoomba swap is one of the biggest in Australia and was a huge disappointment.

Saw a couple of vendors who had some old corroded Su carbs and that was about it...

I still like the swapmeets. Always a treasure to be found. At Goulburn I found enough to cover my big fuel bill but have often come home with unreal finds. I am over the bric-a-brac and think the people selling it are too. I did come in a minute behind a fella who picked up all the mark2 badges, su's and some racing bits for a very fair price. The seller raced cooper's in Italy I think he said and was cleaning out. Anyway now I'm looking and learning we'll see what turns up

I laugh at the sellers who have carted the same crap for years from swap meet to swap meet because of the stupid prices they have on it and no one pays there stupid prices

One seller has been trying to sell a nsw mini car club grill badge worth $30 from the club I think for $80 for at least 4 years every time I see his stand at different swaps I always cause a stir over the price when I see it in the perspex lidded box

Next time ill take the club mag and show the idiot what there worth new

Ever funnier he's probably sold a half dozen for 80 over the years. Just buys em for 30 when needed

Nope its always the same half faded scratched up nsw mini car club one with other badges he must think its rare and hard to get

He had it at the Sydney super swap 4 years in a row and I've seen it at the Holden day one they have at the same place and others I go to

I go with me dad all the Time to these things and we say oh here's so and so's stand with such and such a part for so many dollars and sure enough the things still there when I've offered $10-$15 less than the sticker or asking price at the last one I've seen the part at and you ask again and they still wont budge off the price so we keep walking on

Another classic is a bloke with 99% Holden ford stuff calls his stall kingswood country with one create of mini bits has a 1/4 inch Su going price for a Su that needs a rebuild is around $10-$25 some complete with manifold and air filter at these places this bloke wanted around $75 for his Su only and he's still carting it around
