Post subject:  Bathurst Car pass

I am trying to find a copy of the drivers car pass located in the top left passenger side front window of the car in the picture. These passes were part of the competitors package sent out to each competitor before the race with the purpose of identifying cars that were competing in the race. This pass would have given the Mini unchallenged access to all areas including the race track. A pass like this would be necessary for the HF 500 because the competing vehicles were series production cars which looked exactly like road cars other than advertising.
Each team entry would be given 1 x competing car pass and probably 1 x tender vehicle pass which would allow these 2 vehicles into the paddock area where space was limited. The passes themselves were printed on thin paper using black lettering. The colour of the paper changed each meeting but was always a light colour – green, blue, orange, yellow, pink or white.

Just wondering of anybody has one or has a good pic of one so I can replicate it. I can make out some of the writing in this one.

Cheers
Ian

Would be nice to stick on display cars at the Bathurst 50th and Muscle Car Masters this year I reckon......

Another nice touch would be to replicate the armbands that the drivers and officials wore. Don't have any details on them but my wife's Dad screen printed them and her Mum did the sewing.

Looking for the arm band? Here is Relief Driver John French. You can see most of the arm band. Main drivers had, I think, yellow. Mechanics' were white.

Geeez...a "Like" button would be handy about now :D

PS: a driver has told me that his arm band (main driver) was red in 1963 :D

Driver of car 23, BMC Works driver Steve Harvey.

BMC Works mechanic John Cotter. Note the crew armbands also have the car number. A set of overalls and a duplicate armband would be a great addition for any of the people accompanying one of the cars at the Bathurst event.

Podium photo - Rauno's arm band clearly visible. Photo courtesy John Cotter (that's John on the right with champagne bottle). I'd love to know what the joke was...

I loved the super minis at Lakeside a few weekends ago and the Coates bringing their historic cars was really cool. What would make it even better is if the teams word period outfits like at Goodwood. Bring on the armbands and the pit passes I say,

Hey Watto, you have hit on a wonderful piece for the magazine. You could call it "Add a caption to this photo". Winner could be announced the next month with a small prize giveaway.

Here are some shots of the crew around 26C 1969, Hardie Ferodo 500. Arm bands are clearly visible. Note the pit crew one in the 2nd photo. Not sure what colour these all were.

I am looking at the engine bay photo more than the arm bands.
MK1 booster and master cylinders, thick PCV valve. A good comparison for folks with an early MK2 S. Probably only 2 months old when the photo was taken.
