When I was in Indonesia twice I ripped the muffler off descending into potholes etc. So I tossed the muffler and welded a hotdog in place to give me the extra ground clearance. Worked really well but it is NOISY! Now I'm back in Melbourne I want to return to sanity and install a muffler so I can hear the stereo and not scare people. What muffler do people recommend that will give a good sound and not detract from the performance of the car. I'm open to suggestions. Bore is 1.75" and side exit.

Thanks

Mikal

i would still use a hotdog, big long fella, but fit it in the middle of the car, then fit a decent straight thru muffler at the back
still gives you a good note, very little restriction but a lovely "Note",,, not a bark

one of the beautys of this is that the hotdog will take a lot of the bite out of the noise & the burn, making the rear muffler last longer & sound nicer, & with no BARK

:-)

easy-peasy

& any decent straight thru or "S" bend muffler of the right size will be finew, just go to your local exhaust shop & ask what they have

Hi Miniman,

Do you have any specific brands of muffler in mind? I few years ago I chose a muffler from the local exhaust place (Holden Commodore) and it sounded awful. Don't want to make that mistake again.
I'm unclear as to the benefit of retaining the hotdog, can you elaborate.

Thanks

Michael
