I have a Flywheel where the timing mark is NOT adjacent to one of the 3 holes were the pressure plate can come though to fix the clutch plate too. Where do I put my "A's"???? Looked in my books and I can't find it ![]() ![]() |

We are surprised that we haven't got a response! Is my question clear or a bit fuzzy? |

I bet someone has had the centre out of the flywheel and refitted it in the wrong position. It looks 180deg out to me. |

The Picture that we have posted, come from "The Scientific Publications Workshop Manual Series No64 Mini." We will wait and see if other's have come across this? |

Usually the slot in the flywheel is at the top when pistons 1 & 4 are at TDC. The A mark on the backplate and the diaphragm go to that hole. As I said in that pic the flywheel outer is fitted 180deg out if it is at TDC. |

The TDC marks and the three holes for the pressure plate are fixed on the one plate. I have fitted it as I think is right. Thank you for your input. |

Mine looks exactly the same as your's Pete, but I can't see any A's on any component. Sorry I can't help too much. I have a Haynes manual and it shows the A's matched up together just to the right of the TDC marks. My guess it is for balancing. Also when removing the flywheel I have always kept TDC to the top as i guess the big C clip behind the flywheel cant' fall out and jam up the removal. Not too sure about this deduction but I'm sure there will be some more experienced person along in a minute to correct me. |

Since they got rid of the wet tail crank and its extra oil seal IN the flywheel in 1963, there is nothing for the C clip to hey caught in. But haynes etc have not caught up. ![]() But yes I still set it to tdc anyway. |

Hey Flapper, cleaned up my clutch components and I have found the "A"'s. Mine are to the left of TDC markings on the flywheel (ie. To the rear side of the engine). My engine is an 1098, not sure if these are different to 848 or 998. |
