Guys,
Thought I would let everyone know I have just picked up a new project to restore. The car is the final Peter Manton Shell mini that was raced from 1968 to 1971. The car has been in careful storage since 1978 and is in unbelievably original condition. The car was resprayed green just prior to storage, but was located with 2 of its original race engines, the original Manton trailer seen behind the Austin 1800 as well as Peters spares package, his engineering and race notes and the car's log books.

Enjoy.
Greg

Congrats. What are the plans? Back to its 1968 race form.

In 68 the car was pale blue with red and yellow stripes, so no, it will go back to the 1970/71 config. The car still has its full alloy doors, boot, bonnet, everything is there, including the custom bits Manton made for it. The original cage came with it too, which was very flimsy but is still going back in. As you can see it has its 12x7 minilites on it still. The trailer was fitted with a stone guard which is not original and will be taken off shortly.

Your hard work pays off again! I can't wait to see this one but I hope the ultra light one is finished first.

Where's the 1800 ute? Not the one in the background of the trailer photo?

Nice find!

Well done Greg.

I'm glad it all came to fruition.

We look forward to following the restoration through the pages of The BMC Experience, just as with "Paddy".

Dad and I bought it a month ago but had an agreement with the owner to keep it quiet until the car was in our possession. As far as the sig goes keep your eyes on it. Never know what may pop up on there next :D

Guys thanks for the support, we spend a lot of time and money putting these things in one place so people can come and see them. We are building a new display shed to house them along with memorabilia. As for the chopped Lungren car. I made a promise to do finish that car next so the Manton car will have to wait it's turn
