Something 8.4 at least.
I have heard of a camira conversion but they're not great as The Dr mentions.
Have you trolled through the site?
There's sure to be something in there.
Maybe look at Traveller R - Turbo orangies brother. That's a vtec conversion and brake upgrade.

depends what wheels you want to use, if you're OK with 12", go with 8.4" mini discs. Later on you can upgrade them to Metro Turbo vented, or with the various 4 and 6 pot alloy calipers

I'd stay away from anything from another make... there are so many good off-the-shelf options to bother with it

Put the biggest brakes you can on the car for the wheel size you're running.

The only set of Camira brakes I have seen on a Mini, the caliper mounting plates were welded onto the Mini drum swivel hubs.
This is wrong for 2 reasons:
1. Welding of suspension parts is only allowed by the manufacturer.
2. The swivel hubs are grey cast iron, the brackets are steel. Arc welding (MIG or stick) here can crack the cast iron.

I'm thinking of going the metro turbo 8.4 brakes what's the minimum wheel size you can run with them 12x5?

I like the wide look and the wide flares so metro brake setup, might go the steering rack for 13" wheels just in case I go bigger

Depending on what state you are in they'll have different requirements for brakes when you do an engine swap. Might be worth checking that out now to save yourself a headache down the track?
