1973-74 I think. Early Clubbies were hydro. All vans were dry suspension. |

Dry- 850, Cooper 997, Cooper 998, Morris Mini Minor (850), all vans. We made NO utes here, but they were dry in UK. All Mokes too. And late Clubbies. Wet- Deluxe, Cooper S, Mini K, Mini Matic, (early) Clubman, Clubman GT. |

![]() Out here, yes. In UK and UnZud, not so. ![]() Back of ute is vertical... and its `grille' is the perforated front panel. |

The hydro cars were not so good with dealing with heavy loads in the back at times it made the headlights point towards the stars, I think I read the Germans actually banned hydro cars because of this. Well, utes and vans would by design be expected and or capable(more room) of taking larger and therefore heavier loads which would exacerbate this problem, this might explain why vans and utes have dry suspension ![]() ![]() |

Vans are comcercial vehicles, and costs were kept to a minimum. Take my 1970 Van. It has the magic wand (nothing else at that time had the magic wand), single clock speedo (not the black 2 guages either side of the speedo), 850 style grill (where all other Mini K's had the Cooper S slat grill). Another thing, which I don't know if it was on Mini K's or not is the high beam dip switch, which is on the floor. The indicator stalk definatly has dip capabilities, but yet the switch is still on the floor. |
