I don't have a key for the original ignition switch from my 1964 850.   I could buy a new switch but I want to retain as many original parts as possible. I also don't think a new one would suit the pushbutton start. Does anyone know if the barrel on these can be swapped out and if so, how it can be removed and a new one re-installed? Cheers Dave |

It is easy to adjust the barrel to fit any key. Have a look in the "How to" on here. With your switch, you will need to insert a pointy thing into the hole that is shown in your 2nd pic to be able to get the barrel out. If unclear just ask

OK-I've read the How To section where it mentions that you need to push down the little gold circlip thingy (top thing shown in the hole)   The gold thing in my lock sits above a spring and I've pushed it down (toward the keyhole) and I've pushed it in every other direction but it only moves with the spring toward the keyhole. Is it meant to move in any other direction as the barrel has not budged? Thanks Dave |

That's how to is for clubman ignition not round nose I'm unsure how to get these apart as never tried but it can't be to hard

I may be able to help as I just pulled one apart. Look in the hole you have been poking your screwdriver in. Between the coils of the big Spring you will see a little hole or depression. Poke a small philip head screwdriver in to depress the locking pin that is in the lock barrel. With your third hand pull the lock barrel out.  You can see the locking pin sticking up out of the tail of the barrel in this photo. That is the bit that you have to push in, then pull the barrel out. |

Thanks for all the tips and hints gents. After two hours of fiddling about with no luck last night, I took the 850 ignition, door handle and boot lock to Minisport here in Adelaide. They are organising the fitment of matching keyed alike barrels to fit the entire car. Cheers Dave |
