Can anyone suggest good place in south east vic to get front subframe blasted and powder coated ? Maybe rough cost, had a quote for $200 seemed bit steep but not terrible.

My subframes are down at Mini Spares and Repairs in Seaford being straightened and repaired. You could ring and ask him who is sand blasting mine in the next week or two. 97860277. I was going to powder coat too but Toby recommends painting so it doesn't chip but from what I have read on here it comes down to personal choice. A Class Powder Coating at 39 Cochranes Rd, Moorabbin can blast and coat for you if that is closer. 95321997. Oh, I just saw you are at Cranbourne but anyway, that is the only help I can offer. Cheers.

Sydney price was $175 for front and rear subframes then I went the 2k finish as I despise powder coat. I have seen too many failures when it chips and creeps rust underneath the coating. When you finally decide it is not doing what you wanted it to do you have a hell of a job to get it off again. As Jim said it comes down to personal choice but in my eyes it's 2K all the way.

What are opinions about POR 15 for subframes? I'm also considering doing my boot with it.

I had my sub frames sand blasted
painted them with Por15 black
and then went over that with Por chassis black

Yep Slacko. They look fantastic. Too nice to hide and bullet proof as well.

+1 for 2 pack, powder coating is crap on stuff like this, good for bull bars and outdoor furniture

I did my front subframe with probably about $100 worth of flap discs. Had the rear subframes blasted by a company for $80.

I POR15d mine and initial impressions are that I'm very happy with it, but having said that I haven't had the car on the road yet.

If you don't have access to the correct facilities to use 2k, I myself would strongly consider the POR system. Their products have an excellent reputation and you can get a really good result with a minimum of fuss.
Looking good Slacko!!! but i bet that front subframe also cost you a bag of redimix to straighten the clothes line for the missus

Must admit
clothes line has never been concreted in
its always had a lean on it after the kids swung on it and broke the crank handle off
the wife just has to stand on the low side to hang cloths on the line

Yeah if I had my time again, after doing the shiny POR15, I'd do that sweet chassis black over the top that Slacko did. (I think they've renamed chassis black something else now?)

mine still hanging on the wall so I'm still half inclined to put a couple of coats of satin black over the top....
That was the original colour wasn't it?
