Post subject:  Remote gearbox adjustment

Hi all
After a engine and gearbox rebuild by others, i am just about finished with installation. Engine is an 1100 with a 4sp remote gearbox.

I have a couple of questions for the experienced wisdom of the forum. Note my observations have been made with the engine/gearbox not yet run.

The 'neutral gate' is well towards the front of the shifter retaining plate. 4th gear has the shifter near enough to vertical.
The 1st-2nd plane is well over towards the passenger. The shift into 1st actually hits the ring that retains the shifter, spring etc.
The 3-4 plane is pretty much vertical.

Does this sound correct?

I have tried to adjust the trunion (?) that connects the shifter to the rod running along the extension housing. It is as far forward as the splines will let it.

What other adjustments are there?

Thanks

The primary adjustment is the two knuckles on top of the gearbox.
The L (male) one is set almost horizontal when in neutral.
The R (female) one should then be slid onto the spline when the gear lever is vertical in the 3-4 plane.
